Eastern Michigan freshman Vicente Quiroga has earned his second Mid-American Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week award following another outstanding performance that helped the Eagles secure a runner-up finish at the Bank of Tennessee Invitational.
The conference announced the honor on Friday, October 23, with Quiroga sharing the award with Toledo’s Brooks Pawlak. Both golfers finished tied for third at the tournament, which was held October 19–21 at Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Quiroga, a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia, recorded rounds of 70, 68 and 64 to finish at 14-under-par 202. His closing eight-under 64 featured 10 birdies and two bogeys, lifting him from a tie for 11th entering the final round into a share of third place.
The performance made history at the Bank of Tennessee Invitational. Quiroga’s 64 was the lowest final-round score recorded in the tournament’s 26-year history and the fourth-lowest single round in Eastern Michigan men’s golf history.
His 202 total also tied for the fifth-lowest 54-hole score in the tournament’s history. The freshman finished ahead of 11 players ranked higher than him nationally, including three competitors inside the top 50.
The latest result continues an impressive October for Quiroga, who also shared medalist honors at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational in Pennsylvania on October 5–6. At that event, he recovered from opening rounds of 73 and 75 with a remarkable final-round 63, matching Eastern Michigan’s school record and climbing 22 positions on the leaderboard.
That victory earned him his first MAC Golfer of the Week award on October 9. With another top-three finish and a second conference honor just two weeks later, Quiroga has quickly established himself as one of the Eagles’ leading performers during his first collegiate season.
Eastern Michigan also enjoyed a record-breaking week in Tennessee, finishing second with a 41-under-par total of 823. The Eagles posted rounds of 280, 275 and 268, with their final-round 20-under performance briefly putting them in position to win the tournament.
VCU ultimately claimed the team title at 42-under 822 after its final two players birdied the 18th hole, leaving Eastern Michigan just one stroke behind. Toledo finished third at 40 under, with only two shots separating the top three teams.
Eastern Michigan’s Charlie Box produced another standout individual performance, taking second place at 15-under 201. Box competed as an individual, meaning his score did not contribute to the Eagles’ team total.
Quiroga’s latest award gives Eastern Michigan four MAC Men’s Golfer of the Week honors during the 2026 fall season. Parin Sarasmut received the recognition on September 11, followed by Arsit Areephun on September 25 and Quiroga on October 9 and 23.
The Eagles previously led the conference with seven weekly men’s golf awards during the 2025–26 season, and their latest performances suggest that the program has carried that strong form into a new academic year.
With the Bank of Tennessee Invitational completing Eastern Michigan’s fall schedule, the team will now prepare for its spring return at The Prestige in La Quinta, California, from February 15–17, 2027.
The event will be played at PGA West, with the team competition scheduled for the Greg Norman Course and individual competition at Trilogy Golf Club. For Quiroga, it will be his next opportunity to build on a remarkable stretch that has already produced a collegiate victory, consecutive top-three finishes and two MAC weekly awards.
