Eastern Michigan Enters 2026 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate After Three Individual Wins

Eastern Michigan University’s men’s golf team will look to carry its recent success into the 2026 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, scheduled for October 19–21 at Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

The Eagles enter their final tournament of the fall season after producing three individual medalists across two events earlier this month.

Hosted by East Tennessee State University, the 54-hole competition features 13 teams competing for the team championship, with additional individual players representing four other programs.

Eastern Michigan begins the event ranked No. 62 nationally in the October 14 Scoreboard/Clippd rankings.

Eastern Michigan Builds Momentum After Strong October Results

The Eagles enjoyed an impressive start to October at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania, where they competed in two events.

At the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, freshman Vicente Quiroga produced one of the standout rounds in Eastern Michigan history.

After opening with scores of 73 and 75, Quiroga fired a 9-under-par 63 in the final round, tying the program’s single-round scoring record.

His performance lifted him into a three-way tie for the individual championship at 5-under-par 211.

Eastern Michigan also finished second in the team competition, posting an even-par total of 864 and missing the title by a single stroke to Seton Hall.

Meanwhile, Robby Turnbull and Felipe Suarez shared medalist honors at the concurrent Shepherd’s Rock Individual tournament.

Both golfers completed the event at 6-under-par 210.

Those results gave Eastern Michigan three individual winners across two tournaments on the same day, highlighting the depth and scoring potential within the Eagles’ roster.

Eagles Face Strong Competition in Tennessee

The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate returns to Blackthorn Club after a two-year hiatus.

Host East Tennessee State enters the tournament ranked No. 8 nationally, while Toledo sits at No. 27.

Eastern Michigan is ranked No. 62 and Virginia Tech No. 94.

The field also includes Kent State, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, Mercer, Lamar, Middle Tennessee State, VCU and William & Mary.

Additional individual competitors represent Auburn, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Texas Tech.

The course is scheduled to play as a par-72 layout measuring 7,147 yards.

Competition runs over three days, with 18 holes scheduled for each round.

Key Eastern Michigan Players to Watch

Quiroga will be among the Eagles attracting attention following his record-tying performance at Nemacolin.

The Bolivian freshman carries a 70.9 scoring average into the event and was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week on October 9.

Parin Sarasmut has also made an encouraging start to his collegiate career.

The Thai golfer finished runner-up in his college debut at the season-opening Bombs Darts Birds Collegiate and added a tied-sixth finish at Nemacolin.

Arsit Areephun, a transfer from Delaware, recorded a tie for third in his Eastern Michigan debut at the Highlands Invitational.

All three players appear among the nation’s top 300 in the latest individual rankings cited by the university.

Other members of Eastern Michigan’s tournament roster include Charlie Box, Joshua Hess, Ben Sessions, Suarez and Turnbull.

What’s Next for Eastern Michigan?

The tournament provides Eastern Michigan with one final opportunity to build on its impressive fall campaign before the winter break.

The Eagles have already demonstrated their ability to contend individually and collectively, finishing just one stroke behind Seton Hall in their previous team event.

Their next challenge is converting that momentum into a strong result against a nationally competitive field.

After the Tennessee tournament, Eastern Michigan is scheduled to resume its collegiate season at The Prestige in La Quinta, California, from February 15–17, 2027.

For Quiroga, Sarasmut and their teammates, the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate offers one more opportunity to finish the fall on a high note.
