Marshall University’s women’s golf team returns to competition on Monday, October 19, for the 2026 UNCG Collegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Thundering Herd will conclude its fall schedule in the 54-hole event, which runs through Tuesday, October 20.
Marshall enters the tournament following a third-place team finish at the Golf Galaxy Collegiate in Pennsylvania, where senior Madison Borders placed fourth individually and Savannah Hawkins finished tenth.
The event offers the Herd another opportunity to build on those performances before the program’s winter break.
Madison Borders Leads Marshall’s Recent Results
Borders has been one of Marshall’s most consistent performers during the fall season.
The Bardstown, Kentucky, native opened her 2026–27 campaign with a tie for fifth at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, Virginia, helping Marshall finish fourth as a team.
She followed that performance with a tie for 14th at the Rocket Classic in September.
Her next appearance at the Golf Galaxy Collegiate produced another impressive result.
Borders finished fourth at Sewickley Heights Golf Club, earning her second top-five finish of the fall.
One of the highlights came on the par-5 14th hole, where she made an eagle in the opening round and added birdies during the following two rounds.
Teammate Savannah Hawkins also impressed, finishing tenth after a final round that included four birdies.
Together, their performances helped Marshall secure third place in the team standings.
Those results provide encouraging momentum heading into Greensboro.

Marshall Faces Competition From Several Strong Programs
The event features a competitive field, including host UNC Greensboro and a Campbell team that has already enjoyed success this fall.
Campbell enters the tournament after winning the Tot Hill Farm Invitational and recording runner-up finishes at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and Brittany Kelly Classic.
The Camels have also received strong individual performances from Miah Rivas and Fanni Gronlund, both of whom have earned collegiate tournament victories this season.
Host UNC Greensboro has been competitive as well.
The Spartans finished second at both the Pirate Collegiate and the Terrier Collegiate during the fall.
At the Terrier Collegiate, Kasey McIlvaine and Baker Hudson shared individual medalist honors with Rio Nakama of Seminole State College of Florida.
Those results underline the challenge awaiting Marshall at Forest Oaks.
For the Herd, improving on its previous third-place finish will require consistent scoring across the lineup rather than relying solely on one strong individual performance.
What’s Next for Marshall Women’s Golf?
The UNCG Collegiate is Marshall’s final scheduled tournament of the fall season.
After the competition concludes Tuesday, the Herd’s next scheduled event is the Rivertowne Invitational in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, on February 15–16, 2027.
A strong performance in Greensboro would provide the team with momentum heading into the spring portion of its schedule.
Borders will be a player to watch given her strong results in September, while Hawkins will look to build on her recent top-10 finish.
The first two rounds will determine whether Marshall can position itself among the leading teams before Tuesday’s championship finish.
